⇛ History of the Statue of Unity Monument :
Narendra Modi announced the memorial at a press conference on October 7, 2010 at the beginning of the 10th year of his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. At that time this scheme was presented to Gujarat as a contribution to the country. The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Unity Trust (SVPRET) was specially created by the Government of Gujarat in December 2013 for the purpose of this monument. The initial total cost of the monument was estimated at ₹ 3001 crore (US $ 420 million) by the Government of India. In October 2014, Larsen & Toubro bid the lowest amount for construction, design and maintenance and won the contract, which was ₹ 2998 crore (US $ 420 million). The design of the statue of the monument was by Ram V. Was made by a carpenter. The construction of the Statue of Unity, an engineering marvel, was completed in a record time of 33 months. The Statue of Unity is made of 1,700 tons of bronze and 1,850 tons of bronze cladding on the outside while the inside of the statue is filled with concrete cement (180,000 cubic meters), reinforced steel (18,500 tons of steel and 650 tons). Construction began on 31 October 2013 and was completed in mid-October 2018. It was formally inaugurated by the 14th Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 31st October 2018 on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
Various programs were organized by the Government of Gujarat for the promotion of this Statue of Unity monument. Farmers were urged to assemble their unused old farming implements iron. As of 2016, 135 metric tons of iron scrap was collected, of which 109 metric tons were used in the foundation of the monument. Run for Unity was organized on 15th December 2013 in Surat.

On 31st October, 2018, the statue is located on a river island called Sadhu Bat near Rajpipla in Gujarat, 3.2 km away in front of the Narmada Dam. The 182-meter (approximately 600 feet) statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the sculptor of independent India. The Statue of Unity is the world's tallest statue at 182-meters, the 153-meter-tall Spring Temple Buddha in China and almost twice as tall as the world-famous Statue of Liberty in New York. Huge monumental towers on the river Narmada, a tribute to India 'from the people of Gujarat' to the leader who put the welfare of the people first. The Statue of Unity overlooks the vast surrounding areas and the Narmada river basin and the extended Sardar Sarovar Dam. It stands on Monk Bat Hill, connected by a 300-meter bridge, which leads from the mainland to the statue.
The Statue of Unity is a monument in Gujarat, India, dedicated to Vallabhbhai Patel, the leader of the Indian independence movement. It is located near Bharuch on Sadhu Bat in the river 3.2 km (2.0 mi) in front of Sardar Sarovar Dam. The monument covers an area of 20,000 sq. M. The area is surrounded by an artificial lake. At a height of 182 meters, which includes a 157 meter statue and a 25 meter pedestal, the monument is the tallest statue in the world.
As the statue was built in the earthquake zone-3 area, the design-load was calculated according to the earthquake zone-4 keeping in view the size of the statue. For the foundation masonry, the Sardar Sarovar dam was excavated in a controlled manner with minimal blast blasts of about 45 meters, then a 60 feet wide RCC retaining wall was built and then the entire depth was filled with concrete about 12 feet high. An entire statue has been created on it. Necessary safety work has also been done to prevent tension in the flood of Narmada river. Sardar Sarovar Dam is one of the largest concrete gravity dams in the world, 1.2 km long and 163 m above its deepest foundation level. It has 30 radial gates weighing about 450 tons.

The monument was visited by 1,28,000 people in 11 days after it was opened to the public on November 1, 2018. As on March 15, 2021, 5 million tourists visited the monument.
An alternative route to reach the monument is being planned. Bus service from Kevadia as well as jetty service from Sardar Sarovar dam as well as rope-way have been proposed. The monument is closed for repairs every Monday.
Kevadia Railway Station has been constructed at a distance of 5 km to facilitate the tourists of the Statue of Unity.

The rates for tourists visiting the "Statue of Unity" are as follows:
The world's tallest statue of Sardar Saheb, the Statue of Unity, has been erected at Kevadia. Rates are set for viewing other exhibits, including this statue. These include bus ticket, entry ticket, viewing gallery ticket and express ticket rates. The time to visit the monument will be from 9 am to 6 pm and the monument will be closed every Monday.

Bus Ticket Rs.30 / - Best Bharat Bhavan, Statue of Unity, Wall of Unity, Exhibition, Foodcourt, Valley of Flowers (towards Kevadia), River Bed Power House, View Point, God Bole Gate, Tent City, Main Canal Head Regular , Etc. will be seen in places.
Entry ticket: Rs. 60 / - for children (3 to 15 years) and Rs. 120 / - for adults. Entry tickets include Valley of Flowers, Museum and Audio-Visual Gallery, Statue of Unity, Sardar Sarovar Dam. It does not include viewing-gallery.
Viewing Gallery Tickets: Rs.200 / - for children (3 to 15 years) and Rs.350 / - for adults Viewing Gallery, Valley of Flowers, Museum and Audio-Visual Gallery, Statue of Unity, Sardar Sarovar Dam, above ( 1) Includes viewing-gallery in addition to all the places shown. Rs.350 (viewing gallery) + Rs.30 (bus ticket) by the traveler i.e. all the places can be seen in the total ticket of Rs.380 / -.
