History of barbed wire fencing plans :: -
The Gujarat government has been repeatedly bringing in farmer oriented schemes. If we talk about the plan to build this barbed wire fence, this plan is in effect from 20/05/2005. To make this scheme more effective and useful, it has been amended and a cluster based scheme has been decided.
The scheme was inaugurated by our Gujarat Minister of State for Narmada Development Yogesh Patel Saheb at a function at Trimandir in Varanasi, Vadodara. A total of Rs 250 crore was allocated for the scheme. According to the government, only Rs 30 crore was allocated till 2015 and 13160 farmers took advantage of this scheme.
By the time the scheme was launched, by 2017, Rs 250 crore had been allocated for the scheme alone.
Objective to plan for barbed wire fence ::
The Gujarat government made this scheme for the benefit of the farmers. The scheme caused extensive damage to the farmer's standing crop by pigs and other wild animals in the villages of Girkantha as well as in other villages.
The farmer spends all day and night in protecting and caring for his hard-earned crop and the farmer finds it very difficult to protect his crop as there is no protective equipment and material available around his farm.
To solve the above problem, the government has implemented a plan to build barbed wire fences, the aim of which is to protect the crops of the farmers.

At the end of careful consideration of this scheme, the implementing agency of this scheme is Gujarat State Land Development Corporation. Instead Gujarat Agro Industry Corporation Ltd. Has been given.
Operation of Gujarat Agro Industry Corporation Ltd. :: -
- Guidelines for the implementation of this scheme will have to be prepared separately by Gujarat Agro Industry Corporation Ltd. It will then have to be approved by the state government.
- Gujarat Agro Industry Corporation Ltd. will get 5% of the administrative cost (including publicity expenses) for the implementation of this scheme.
- Specification of wire fencing material has to be decided in advance by Gujarat Agro Industry Corporation and get the approval of Gujarat Government.
- The wire fencing design for this has to be prepared by Gujarat Agro Industry Corporation Lee and published after getting approval from the state government.
What is the plan to build fencing around the farm 2020-21?

- Under this scheme, farmers will have to apply by forming a cluster of their lands. Farmers of all concepts will have to apply for a cluster of at least 5 hectares of land (which was earlier 15 to 20 hectares)
- A group leader will have to be appointed in the farmers gathered around his farm.
- Beneficiary group applications are to be made as per the cluster. Assistance will be sanctioned as per application as per running meter Rs.200 / - or 50% of the cost incurred whichever is less.
- Apply online on i-khedut portal. State government approval is required for district wise allocation of targets. If there are more applications, it will have to be approved through online draw system.
- If he is not selected even in the draw, the application will be carried forward in the following year. So that the beneficiary does not have to apply again.
- Whether wire fencing is done by the third party in reality before approving the application? It will have to be verified. The third party inspection will also check whether the operation is completed or not.
- A report will be made through him and payment will have to be made accordingly. GPS location tagging will be required at the time of verification.
- If the work is not done as per the prescribed quality or design, or if the work is done with less material, then the benefit of the barbed wire fence plan will not be availed.
- Farmers will have to bear the cost of maintenance after constructing the barbed wire fence.
- Farmers will get the benefit of this barbed wire fence scheme only once in that survey number. And if the benefit of the scheme has been received earlier, it will not be recoverable.
- This scheme will be implemented in the entire state of Gujarat.
