26th January (Republic Day) is a national festival celebrated in India with great joy and pride. Our country became free on 15th August 1947 after many years of British slavery. Our country became independent with the sacrifices of the great freedom fighters of the freedom movement, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, and our brave martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Chandra Shekhar and many other unsung heroes. And almost two and a half years after independence i.e. on 26 January 1950, the Constitution of India came into force. And our nation became a republic. First President of India Dr.Rajendra Prasad hoisted our national flag and declared 26th January as a national festival of Republic Day. Every year Republic Day is celebrated with great fanfare and pride on Delhi's duty roads. Every year representatives of different countries are invited to celebrate our Republic Day. His Excellency Abdul Fattah Al Sisi, the President of Egypt, will be the special guest of your 74th Republic Day on 26th January 2023.


Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India, declared the historic birth of the Republic of India 73 years ago by giving a 50 gun salute and unfurling the National Flag (Tricolor) on 26th January-1950. Our country became independent after getting rid of the British rule. Since then, every year we celebrate the national festival of 26th January (Republic Day) with much fanfare.




As we celebrate the 74th Republic Day this 26th January-2023, this year's Republic Day parade is set to feature the growing representation of women in the armed forces. A contingent of women officers of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force will lead the march during the parade.
         The marching contingent of the Indian Air Force will be led by Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy and will consist of four officers and 144 airmen. In a conversation with Akashvani news section, Sindhu Reddy said that it will be a very proud moment for him to lead the marching contingent on the path of duty.

26th January holds a special significance in this history of our freedom struggle. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru took a pledge on this day in 1930 at the Lahore session of the Congress on the banks of the river Ravi. "This freedom movement will continue till India gets freedom". Along with many struggles, many great heroes have sacrificed themselves for the attainment of freedom. Even today the citizens of India have not forgotten his sacrifice.

The Constitution of your country Sarvabhom, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic of India came into force on 26th January-1950.

Before the Republic Day, the Government of India Act 1935 was in force in India.
On 29 August 1947, a Drafting Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Dr. Ambedkar to draft a permanent constitution.
On 4 November 1947, the draft constitution was presented to the Constitution Committee.
A 166-day public session took place before the Constitution was adopted.
The work of framing the constitution lasted for 2 years 11 months 18 days.
On 24 January 1950, the Constituent Assembly signed the English and Hindi handwritten copies of the Constitution.
Constituent Assembly had 308 members.

26મી જાન્યુઆરી(પ્રજાસત્તાક દિન) રાષ્ટ્રીય તહેવાર ભારતમાં  હર્ષ અને ગૌરવભેર ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. આપણો દેશ અંગ્રેજોની  અનેક વર્ષોની ગુલામી પછી 15 ઓગસ્ટ 1947 ના દિવસે આઝાદ થયો. આઝાદીની ચળવળના મહાન સ્વાતંત્ર્ય સેનાનીઓ મહાત્મા ગાંધી, સરદાર વલ્લભભાઈ પટેલ, સુભાષચંદ્રબોઝ, અને આપણા વીર શહીદો  ભગતસિંહ ,સુખદેવ અને ચંદ્ર શેખર અને અનેક નામી અનામી વીરોનાં બલીદાનોથી આપણો દેશ સ્વતંત્ર થયો. અને આઝાદીના લગભગ અઢી વર્ષ પછી એટલે કે 26 જાન્યુઆરી-1950 ના રોજ ભારતના બંધારણ નો અમલ થયો. અને એ જ રીતે 26મી જાન્યુઆરી 1950 ના રોજ ભારત, ભારતનું બંધારણ, તેની સરકાર, રાષ્ટ્રપતિ અને રાષ્ટ્રધ્વજ સાથે વિશ્વનું સૌથી મોટું પ્રજાસત્તાક રાષ્ટ્ર બન્યું.

આઝાદ ભારતના પ્રથમ રાષ્ટ્રપતિ ડો.રાજેન્દ્રપ્રસાદે 26મી જાન્યુઆરી-1950ના દિવસે 50 તોપોની સલામી આપી અને રાષ્ટ્રીય ધ્વજ(ત્રિરંગો)ને ફરકાવીને 73 વર્ષ પહેલાં ભારતીય ગણતંત્રના ઐતિહાસિક જન્મની ઘોષણા કરી હતી. અંગ્રેજોના શાસનકાળથી છુટકારો મેળવ્યાં બાદ આપણો દેશ સ્વતંત્ર બન્યો હતો. ત્યારથી આજ સુધી દર વર્ષે આપનેઆપણે 26મી જાન્યુઆરી(પ્રજાસત્તાક દિવસ)ની રાષ્ટ્રીય તહેવારની ખુબ જ ધામધુમથી ઉજવવણી કરીએ છીએ. ભારતના પ્રથમ રાષ્ટ્રપતિ ડો.રાજેન્દ્ર પ્રસાદે આપણો રાષ્ટ્રધ્વજ ફરકારી 26 જાન્યુયારીના પ્રજાસત્તાક દિવસની રાષ્ટ્રીય તહેવાર તરીકે ઘોષણા કરી. દર વર્ષે પ્રજાસત્તાક દિવસ દિલ્હીના કર્તવ્ય પથ પર ભારે ધામધૂમ અને ગૌરવપૂર્ણ રીતે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે . આપણાપ્રજાસત્તાક દિનની ઉજવણીમાં દર વર્ષે વિવિધ દેશના પ્રતિનિધિઓને આમંત્રિત કરવામાં આવે છે. આપના આ 26 મી જાન્યુઆરી 2023 ના 74 મા પ્રજાસત્તાક દિવસના અતિથિ વિશેષ તરીકે ઈજીપ્તના રાષ્ટ્રપતિ મહામહિમ અબ્દુલ ફતાહ અલ સીસી ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહેવાના છે.

આપણા સ્વતંત્રતા સંગ્રામના આ  ઇતિહાસમાં 26મી જાન્યુઆરીનું પોતાનું એક વિશેષ મહત્વ છે. સન-1930 માં રાવી નદીના કિનારે કોંગ્રેશના લાહોર અધિવેશનમાં ‘પંડિત જવાહરલાલ નહેરુ‘ એ આ દિવસે એક પ્રતિજ્ઞા લીધી હતી. “જ્યાં સુધી ભારતને આઝાદી નહિ મળે ત્યાં સુધી આ સ્વતંત્રતાની ચળવળ ચાલુ રહેશે“. અનેક સંઘર્ષો સાથે અનેક મહાન નાયકોએ સવતંત્રતા પ્રાપ્તિ માટે પોતાનું બલિદાન આપ્યું છે. તેમનું બલિદાન આજે પણ ભારતના નાગરિકો ભૂલી શક્યા નથી.


 આપણું ભારતના બંધારણ વિશે :
  • આપનો દેશનું સાર્વભોમ, સમાજવાદી, બિનસાંપ્રદાયિક, લોકતાંત્રિક અને પ્રજાસત્તાક ભારતનું બંધારણ 26 મી જાન્યુઆરી-1950 ના દિવસે અમલમાં આવ્યું હતું. 
  • ભારતના બંધારણ ઘડતર વિષેની કેટલીક રસપ્રદ જાણકારી
  • પ્રજાસત્તાક દિવસ પહેલાં ભારતમાં ગવર્નમેંટ ઓફ ઈન્ડિયા એક્ટ 1935 અમલમાં હતો .
  • 29 ઓગસ્ટ 1947ના રોજ ડૉ .આંબેડકરની અધ્યક્ષતામાં કાયમી બંધારણનો મુસદ્દો તૈયાર કરવા મુસદ્દા સમિતિની રચના કરવામાં આવી હતી.
  • 4 નવેમ્બર 1947 ના રોજ બંધારણનો મુસદ્દો બંધારણ સમિતિ સમક્ષ રજૂ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો .
  • બંધારણ નો સ્વીકાર કરતાં પહેલાં 166 દિવસનું  જાહેર સત્ર મળ્યું .
  • બંધારણ ઘડતરનું કામ  2 વર્ષ 11 માસ 18 દિવસ ચાલ્યું .
  • 24 જાન્યુઆરી 1950 ના દિવસે બંધારનની અંગ્રેજી અને હિન્દીની ને હસ્તલિખિત નકલો પર બંધારણ સભાએ હસ્તાક્ષર કર્યા .
  • બંધારણ સભાના 308 સભ્યો હતા.

15 August  is celebrated as India's Independence Day. Is.
