બીજી એક માન્યતા અનુસાર ભગવાન વિષ્ણુની જીત ઉજવવા મકર સંક્રાંતિ ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. માન્યતા મુજબ કહેવાય છે કે... મકરસંક્રાંતિનાં દિવસે જ ભગવાન વિષ્ણુએ પૃથ્વીલોક પર અસુરોનો સંહાર કરી, અસુરોના ધડોને કાપી ‘મંદાર’ પર્વતમાં દાટી દીધા હતા.
